On Monday, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole alleged that the NDA government led by Narendra Modi is planning to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra and alleged that they have an agenda for the upcoming Parliament session of Mumbai as a Union Territory.
Congress is surprised by the special parliament session as this is the first time NDA has organised special parliament sessions. They had not called for any special session, not even during the COVID pandemic or some special issues like note ban or Manipur.
There are many speculations going on about the coming special parliament sessions, like One Nation, One Election and now Mumbai making it as a Union Territory.
The NDA government had already got full pledged power in Delhi by passing a bill in the last assembly session. Now Mumbai is a powerhouse and a financial capital, Mumbai is also famous for its diamond market, International Financial Services Centre and Air India, so to get a grip over one more capital is the reason for their plans to make Mumbai a union territory, alleged Patole.
He also alleged that the government is planning to shift the Mumbai Stock Exchange to Gujarat. The special parliament sessions will be held between the 18th and 22nd of September. The NDA government has yet to release the agenda for the coming sessions.
