Rajnath Singh says India would not shower mercy on anyone

Home Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the security forces on Saturday saying that the nation was proud of them for the success in the ongoing operation. The security forces have successfully contained the terror attack on the Air Force Base in Pathankot in Punjab.

Rajnath condemned the attack while speaking to ANI. He said that the Punjab Police and the National Security Guard (NSG) have given a befitting reply in the operation.

Answering if this is to hamper the peace process initiated by India with Pak, Home Minister said, "Pakistan is our neighbour and we want to have good relations with them including all our other neighbours as well." However, he added that India would not shower mercy upon anyone threatening the nation’s safety.

Rajnath told ANI, "We want peace, but if there is any terrorist attack on India we will give a befitting reply. I am happy that our security forces, our Army jawans, Para-Military forces and the Punjab police are retaliating strongly. The country is proud of them."

Top officials convened an emergency meet in Delhi at the Air Force Headquarters. The officials are monitoring the situation at the highest level.
