Over 266 kg gold is missing from Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, according to the report by former Comptroller and Audit General Vinod Rai.

After huge controversy of treasure in Sri Padmanabhaswamy temple, the government heightened security around the temple vicinities, and Supreme Court ordered former CAG Vinod Rai to undertake the audit of the temple accounts and properties for the past quarter of a century.

The report, filed before the Apex Court, revealed that of a total of 893.644 kg of gold given to a contractor for melting and purification in connection with gold ornamentation work, only 627.372 kg was returned.
