Over thousand volunteers help out victims of flood damage

A small army of volunteers spread out in  neighborhoods of Houston, that badly hit during the flood this week. More than  1,300 volunteers from Champion Forest Baptist Church helped homeowners to cleaning up flood damage.

The church celebrates 'Serve Saturday' every year. This year, the Saturday of service came after Houston's horrible week of flooding.

Rev. Chris Todd, Pastor in charge of operations, said that, "On Wednesday of this week we completely put down all the plans that we already had in place and completely reorganized the whole thing.”

"A lot of people are asking us why we're doing this and our answer is we're thankful for all GOD's done for us. We consider it an honor and a privilege to give it for somebody else," said Louis Miori, Champion Forest’s minister of pastoral care.

Chris Lewis, flood victim, said that, "Definitely glad to have them because after a couple of days of doing some of the work myself, it's moving along.” “It's a God-send to have this many people come into the house and help us pull the house apart."
