The cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar called the ICC’s decision to reduce the number of teams to 10 in next World Cup event in 2019, a backward step and termed it as an unfair action.

Presently 14 teams are participating in the cricket extravaganza, reducing the number to 10 makes some minnows out of the event. The ambassador of the World Cup Sachin, hinted that increasing the number to 25 would be a better thing.

“I found out the next World Cup would only be ten teams. Which is slightly disappointing because as a cricketer I want the game to be globalised as much as possible and, according to me, this is a backwards step,” Tendulkar was quoted as saying by ‘ESPNcricinfo’

The step if implemented will make the teams like UAE, Ireland, Kenya, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Holland out of the World Cup events permanently, as the teams like India, Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies and England will be dominated in the records and cricket matches.
