The BJP led by its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will emerge as the single largest party in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, revealed a poll survey by Headlines Today /C-Voter on Thursday. The poll survey indicates a non-Congress government at the centre in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections due in May.

The opinion poll attributed 188 seats to the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. This is better than its last best of 183 seats in 1999. In 2009 general elections the BJP had won 116 seats. According to the survey Congress would win 91 seats, in 2009 it had bagged 206 LS seats.

Besides, C-Voter predicted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would emerge the largest formation in the general elections. However, they would fall short of the majority number of 272, needed to form government at the centre. The ruling Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) would win around 98-108 seats, implying that 223-233 seats will be captured by other parties.

Survey done by two other TV channels predicted BJP to be the largest gainer in Uttar Pradesh, although AAP is also seen as a crucial game changer in the forthcoming general election. CNN IBN-CSDS opinion poll predicted 41-49 seats to the saffron party in UP’s 80 constituencies, and the ABP News-Nielsen survey has attributed 35 seats to the party. Congress which has 21 seats in UP now, will win only 4-10 seats says CNN IBN-CSDS poll, while ABP News-Nielsen survey predicted 12 seats.

CNN IBN-CSDS survey says AAP will win 4-6 seats in Delhi's seven Lok Sabha seats. Besides, in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Bihar as well, the BJP has emerged the gainer in the survey.
