Bihar is won, and on Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned his focus to Bengal, pointing to the flow of the Ganga as proof that it is a natural path for the BJP to end "Jungle Raj" in that state too. "Winning in Bihar has opened the door for the BJP’s success in Bengal. I want to tell the people of Bengal that, with your help, the BJP will also stop Jungle Raj in your state," Modi declared as he was about to finish his victory speech at the party office late in the evening. While Bengal has been a priority for the BJP for several years, Modi made it clear that the impressive victory in Bihar had motivated party members in the states and Union Territories that will be voting early next year — Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, and Assam.
Praising the people of Bihar for such a significant victory that crushed the Opposition, Modi criticized the RJD and the Congress, specifically targeting the latter for what he called its "negative politics." He even gave a new nickname to the Congress, mockingly referring to it as the “Muslim League Maoist Congress (MMC).” "The base of the Congress’s political strategy is built on negativity. They focus on shouting objectionable slogans, interrupting parliamentary sessions, attacking important institutions, questioning the reliability of electronic voting machines (EVMs), defaming the Election Commission, and encouraging division based on caste and religion. The Congress does not have a positive or future-oriented vision for the country," he stated. Directing his comments at the Congress's leading family without directly naming the Gandhis, the Prime Minister cautioned that there might be another significant split in the party regarding the direction in which the leadership is taking it. He took pride in the fact that the Grand Old Party had not been able to match the number of legislators that the BJP secured in Bihar alone during the six Assembly elections since the Lok Sabha elections.
“If citizens are choosing to re-elect the BJP-led NDA government, it indicates the creation of a government that is supportive of the people, focused on good governance, and committed to development. This marks a new era in Indian politics,” Modi stated, highlighting this against what he described as the “divisive” MY (Muslim-Yadav) strategy of the RJD. “That MY strategy has now been swapped for a positive MY focus — ‘women and youth’.”
The Prime Minister labeled the Congress as a parasite that survives by exploiting the support of its allies. “Allies of the Congress, be cautious of it,” Modi warned, aligning with the BJP’s goal of achieving a “Congress-free India.”
In light of Rahul Gandhi's efforts to raise issues like SIR and “vote theft” in the Bihar elections, Modi emphasized that the results once more confirmed that Indian voters, especially the younger ones, take the “cleansing” of voter lists very seriously.
Acknowledging the contributions of NDA leaders in the victory and the teamwork among its member parties, the Prime Minister noted that the public had rejected “Jungle Raj” and opted for progress, silencing skeptics. “Bihar is set to advance more quickly. More businesses will be established here so that the youth do not have to migrate for jobs. The world will recognize new opportunities in Bihar. The sacred and historical places in Bihar will undergo transformation. I want to convey to investors from across the nation and the globe that Bihar is open for your investments. Additionally, I want to tell the people of Bihar scattered around the world that now is the perfect time to invest in Bihar.”
