Fallen godman Asaram Bapu isn't just a self-styled saint, but a self-made crore-pati too!

Yes, the tainted pietist, over his flourishing career, hasn't just exploited women, but also amassed a massive wealth of worth over Rs 10,000 crore along with huge tracts of land in various parts of the country.

According to Surat Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana, the documents seized from Ahmedabad reveals that the godman has accumulated a jaw-dropping wealth of about Rs 9,000 - 10,000 crore in the form of bank accounts, shares and government bonds., excluding the huge tracts of land owned by these ashrams.

Asthana maintained that the figure is likely to soar as as many more documents are yet to be retrieved.

Asthana said that in Gujarat alone the father-son duo have landholdings at 45 places across 10 districts and at more than 30 places in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The Surat Police are now involving the Central Board of Direct Taxes, the Income Tax department and the Enforcement Directorate to assist them in investigation, he added.

Asaram and Narayan are currently in jail on  rape charges.
