New Coronavirus strain spreading fast among youngsters

The second wave of coronavirus is having a toll on India. The Indian government failed to control the new spread of cases and the daily tally crossed 4 lakh mark. It is heard that the strains B.1.617 along with B.1 which are quite dangerous and infectious are found in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. They are said to be spreading across the youngsters and not in adults. These strains are identified from the data of April month. The COVID-19 Weekly Epidemiological Update of April 25th that is issued by the World Health Organization mentioned about the variants B.1.617 along with B.1 and not N440K.

The states of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka witnessed a huge rise in the number of new cases. The death rate too got increased and the states Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka headed for a lockdown to bring a control in the new cases. The process of Genome sequencing was carried in CCMB, Hyderabad from the samples that are collected in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. 250 samples are sent to CCMB every month from Andhra Pradesh. N440K was detected last year during June and July. The strained dropped down drastically early this year and the new strains that are mentioned above started from March this year and are found in April samples.
