Raman Singh, the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, said on Thursday that the November assembly polls was not a Congress rout but a defeat for Rahul Gandhi, as he had personally handpicked the party candidates for the assembly elections.
Singh's statement came at his maiden press conference after he took oath as chief minister for the third time consecutively. He pointed out that Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi had set the precedence for BJP chief ministers to score a hat-trick in elections. Singh further said that the results of November assembly poll was an indicator of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He further added that Modi would be the next prime minister of India.
