Well-known cartoonist Rasipuram Krishnaswamy Laxman passes away on Monday 26 January India’s Republic Day in a hospital in Pune. Due to serious health condition he was put back on ventilator support on Sunday morning.
The 94-year-old was admitted to Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital in Pune a week back because of multi -organs failure.
He is known for the creation of the ‘Common Man’ for daily cartoon beat, “You said it” in times of India, which was started in 1951.The legendary, was the brother of famous novelist RK Narayanan, creator of Malgudi days, for which RK Laxman was the person who drew cartoons for television adaption of Malgudi days.
RK Laxman started his career as a political cartoonist for the Free Press Journal in Mumbai there the late politician Bal Thackrey was his colleague and after some time he joined Times Of India.
The legendary was inspired by Sir David Low famous well-known British cartoonist. According to one of the confession RK Laxman used to read the signature of Britisher as cow till the time corrected.
The RK Laxman is the Padma Vibhushan awardee also wrote his autobiography: "The Tunnel of Time."
The man began to think himself as a cartoonist after his school teacher appreciated him for his drawing of Peepal leaf.
After completing his school for college, he applied J J School of Art, Bombay. But the dean of the institution has rejected his admission because as he felt that RK Laxman’s drawings were lackluster. Then he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Mysore.
Pm Narendra Modi, Policians and Bollywood actors took to twitter to pay his condolences.
