Rehearsal for Republic Day Parade, Traffic Congestion Likely in Central Delhi

The entry of commercial vehicles from Noida to Delhi will be barred from 11pm on Wednesday and will be continued on Thursday till the end of the full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day parade, as said by the officials.

The rehearsals are said to get started at Vijay Chowk at 9:50 am and will be proceeded towards the Red Fort via Rajpath, C- Hexagon, Tilak marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Netaji Subhash Marg which is the same route that will be followed during the actual parade on January 26.

The Noida Traffic police has said that similar restrictions would be made again from 11 pm on January 25 and 26.

The police has said in a statement advising that, as the route for the vehicles to Delhi from Noida has been barred, all the commercial vehicles that have to reach either Rajasthan, Haryana or Punjab, to take the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

A senior DMRC official has said that, the availability of metro has been made accessible for the commuters on Thursday although few gates at Udyog Bhawan and Central Secretariat stations will be closed and the the exit and entry at the two stations will be functional.

It is said that the timings of the entry and exit being closed at the two stations has been scheduled mentioning that the entry and exit will be remained closed from 5 in the morning to 12 in the noon at Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan and from 8.45 am till 12 noon at the Lok Kalyan Marg and Patel Chowk.

The advisory from the Delhi police has added stating that cross traffic will not be allowed on Rajpath from 11 pm on Wednesday till the end of the rehearsals at Rafi Marg, Janpath, Man Singh Road. Adding that the C- Hexagon- India Gate will also be closed from 9:15 am on Thursday for the traffic until the rehearsal parade crosses the Tilak Marg.

The traffic will not be allowed on the Rajpath from Vijay Chowk to India Gate on Saturday from 6pm till the completion of the parade on the Republic Day, Sunday.

The traffic on January 26, will be barred on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg and Subhash Marg from 5 in the morning and no traffic will be allowed on both the directions. The cross traffic will be allowed as the parade proceeds basing on the movement of the parade.

The entry of heavy transport vehicles to Delhi will not be allowed from the borders from 10pm on Wednesday until the rehearsal gets completed. And the same restriction for the large goods or the heavy transport vehicles will be made on Saturday and Sunday.

The police report asked the citizens to inform the police if they come across any suspicious person or unidentified object.

It has been said that the prohibition of flying of the sub-conventional aerial platforms like para- gliders, para- motors, hang gliders, UAVs, UASs, microlight aircraft, remotely piloted aircraft, hot air balloons, small size powered aircraft, quad- copters or para jumping from the aircraft has been made till February 15 over the jurisdiction of National Capital territory of Delhi.

The roads that have been blocked for traffic on Wednesday and Thursday for the parade rehearsal and on Saturday and Sunday for the parade on the occasion of Republic Day has been mentioned in the police report.

The entrance of the taxis or auto-rickshaws will be stopped after 7 am on Thursday and Sunday on Mother Teresa Crescent, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Ashoka Road, Sansad Marg, Tolstoy Marg, Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Ferozeshah Road, Bhagwan Dass Road, Mathura Road, Subramaniam Bharti Marg, Humayun Road, APJ Abdul Kalam Marg, Kamal Ata Turk Marg, Kautilya Marg and Sardar Patel Road.

The national highway 24, Ring Road will be considered by the buses that are bound for Shivaji Stadium and the buses will be terminated at Bhairon Road where as, the buses that are coming via NH- 24 shall be terminated at ISBT Anand Vihar by turning on to Road number 56. the buses that are coming from the Ghaziabad side will be made to divert for Wazirabad Bridge with the buses diverting at Mohan Nagar towards Bhopra Chungi.
