BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has called a meeting of his party's state legislator in Gandhinagar on Tuesday. The Gujarat chief minister's call for a meeting has triggered speculations that the BJP leader has started to look for a replacement for the top job in the state.

However, BJP sources that the meeting is routine affair practised by the Gujarat government. Apparently, on alternate Tuesdays Modi meets all his MLAs regularly.

And this time the Gujarat CM has called a meeting to discuss among other things about the results of 26 parliamentary seats in Gujarat. Narendra Modi is serving his fourth term as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

The 63-year-old BJP leader is contesting his first general elections from Varanasi and Vadodara. Polling is underway at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh today, while voting at Vadodara in Gujarat was held on April 30.

If Modi wins both the seats than he will surrender Vadodara constituency and represent varanasi, according to sources.

In case the BJP comes to power at the centre then a successor to Modi will be chosen for the chief minister's post. Modi's successor in Gujarat could possibly include names like Anandiben Patel, Revenue Minister in the current government, Saurabh Patel, Industries Minister, and Bikhu Dalsania, BJP's organisational secretary in Gujarat.

Majority of the opinion polls predict the maximum number of seats for the BJP. However, the BJP will need the help of allies to form government at the centre, according to opinion polls.

Today is the ninth and last phase of polling this election and results will be declared on May 16.
