Narendra Modi led BJP won a landslide victory during elections 2014. The successful poll campaign is being attributed to the high-tech communication campaign along with a carefully planned strategy.

The greatest credit goes to Musion, a London-based company, that enabled Narendra Modi to communicate his political ideas before the masses in India with the help of a unique holographic 3D technology. With the assistance of holographic Modi was able to reach his audience across 128 locations (a record) on 26 April. This is being sighted as one of the reasons for his 2014 electoral success.

Earlier this technology was employed for Modi’s simultaneous appearance across 53 locations during the 2012 assembly elections in Gujarat. At that time also the Musion technology was employed, but by an Indian francisee.

However, in the 2014 electoral campaign the project was handled by Musion itself. Six weeks   before the 2014 election campaigning began, Musion flew in key staff into India from Germany, Australia, London, Italy, Austria and Dubai. They set up their headquarters in Ahmedabad, and Pune was another key base.

The company has delivered highly realistic images during the 2014 campaign in over 1500 rallies. With the assistance of holographic technology, Musion was able to deliver the ambition and beliefs of Narendra Modi and his BJP to the Idian people, said Giovanni Palma, director of Musion.

The successful delivery at 128 rallies simultaneously on April 26 evening was the largest and grandest deployment of holographic technology, a feat that is world record and is likely to be confirmed soon, said Palma. He further added that such a feat, involving more than 2500 staff working on the project, was possible due to Musion’s 15 years of experience and their experts helping local people with talents.

Musion, owned by Palma, works in collaboration with Uwe Maass, inventor of holographic technology. During the 2014 project both developed “personal relationship” with Modi. In fact, Mass had personally come down to India to train and lead the teams.

The list of equipment deployed by the company during the campaign was termed as “staggering”. The company used over 30,000 square meters of holographic projection foil; 400 satellite dishes; 200 Christie 20k and 14k projectors; 5,500 metres of trusses, 1,300 lights; 500 audio speakers; 14,000 metres of speaker and power cables; and 200 sound mixers and power amps.

Musion said that it's team had designed and built an onsite studio in Ahmedabad, the campaign headquarters. Speeches were video recorded and broadcast live through a satellite uplink to the respective stages from the studio. A receiving stage was also built at the headquarters by the Musion team that enabled the campaign team to monitor everything that was being broadcast at any point of time.

The landslide victory of Narendra Modi and the BJP has revealed how advanced visual technologies like holographic 3D can be successfully employed to communicate to large masses and with conviction.

No doubt people voted for Narendra Modi, but he had to reach to them through some communication mode and Musion did just that for the BJP.
